This Arte Mezcal 2015 from Los Danzantes distillery is a passion project of Karina Abad Rojas the head of production for Los Danzantes mezcales. One of the few females in the mezcal industry to head the hierarchy. Los Danzantes has been working on a project called Arte de Mezcal that utilizes some of the more creative and experimental batches of mezcal distilled on site, while allowing Karina to pursue her own interests and push herself further as a distiller. This 2015 release is a combination of 4 amazing agaves Tepeztate (takes on average 25-30 years for a single plant to mature and usually taste like Jalapeños, bell pepper and caper berries), Tobala (takes an average of 12-15 years to mature but only as big as a basketball in size which also taste very fruity and floral), Cuixe (An agave that yields lots of dry tannin like flavours with lots of mineral) and espadin which is most commonly used for Mezcal and also yields a very balanced flavour. The 4 types of agave are cooked, fermented and distilled together.
